Web publishing overview
OK, you have added all this great stuff to your CuteSITE Builder Web site and it’s looking good. Now all you have to do is put it up on a Web server so you can show it to the world. This is where CuteSITE Builder’s One-Click Publishing really shines. Just perform the steps below and you’ll be ready to publish your site in no time.
1. Choose File > Publish Web Site. The Publish Web Site dialog appears.
2. Click Options. The Web Site Options dialog appears.
3. Click on the Host Setup tab.
4. Click Add New Site.
Fill in the Web site data requested. Each hosting company requires slightly different information, which should have been provided to you at the time you established your Web site. If you do not remember some of the information, your Web hosting company can provide it for you. For example:
Site Name: identifier of this site within CuteSITE Builder (in case you work on many sites)
Web Site Address: the full online address of the site (URL)
FTP Host Address, FTP Directory, FTP User Name: information required during the transfer of files to your site
FTP Password, Confirm Password: private code used to check that you have permission to update your site
Default Filename: exact name of the site's first page (restricted by some hosts)
Passive Mode Check Box: One-Click Publishing allows you to choose between Port and Passive modes for file transfers. The Passive mode check box is checked by default. This is best for getting through firewalls. If you are not behind a firewall, and having trouble connecting to the FTP server, try un-checking the Passive mode box.
5. Click OK. CuteSITE Builder will use this stored information to let you quickly publish and republish your site from within CuteSITE Builder.
Notes
You must already have an account with a Web hosting company. By nature of you being on the Internet you probably already have one, it’s your ISP. Give them a call for your username, password, and FTP address.
If you change Web hosting companies, or if your site’s information changes, you can use this same procedure to update your stored information.
Web Site Information must be saved under a specific site name. You must also use the name whenever you change data on the Web Site Information dialog. If you do not remember some of the information, your Web hosting company can provide it for you.
If your computer is in a secure office or home, it is usually safe to let CuteSITE Builder save your password. Once your password is saved, you can update your site from your own computer without having to enter the password each time. The only reason to keep your password secret is if you are concerned that someone might use your computer to update your site inappropriately.
