Important Pre-installation Notes:
All Servers and Agents must be upgraded and running the same version of the software. Using different versions among Servers or Agents will result in performance degradation and possible synchronization problems or data loss.
If you are upgrading from WAFS 3.0, contact Customer Service for a free upgrade license key.
Upgrade the Server first, then upgrade all of the Agents.
Do not uninstall the Server or the Agents.
If you are using anti-virus software that scans processes, you must add the Agent process (AvlAgt.exe) to the exclusion list. Refer to Antivirus Settings for more information.
If the Agent is configured for delayed startup, the Agent upgrade process will be slowed. To turn off Delayed Startup:
Click the Windows system tray icon
, then click Agent Setup and Preferences.
On the General tab, clear the Delayed startup check box, then click OK.
Delayed Startup is normally not selected. Selecting this check box causes the Agent not to start until after the computer boots up, delayed by approximately one minute.
As a precaution, a complete backup before any software upgrade is recommended.
To upgrade the Server
Download the most recent release of the software upgrade version from the WAFS Support Center and save it to a convenient location on the Server computer.
Stop the Server service as follows:
Click Start > Run, type services.msc, then press ENTER. The Windows Services dialog box appears.
Click Availl Server, then click the Stop Service icon.
Start the installer downloaded in step 1 above and then follow the instructions in the wizard.
On the Upgrade Server page, click Upgrade Server. When the upgrade is finished, the Server will restart.
Verify the new version number is displayed in the Server Console title bar or click Help > About Availl Server.
To upgrade the Agents
If you are upgrading from the next most recent release, the Server may automatically push the upgrade to each individual Agent, in which case a message will appear at each Agent prompting the user to upgrade.

Follow the instructions. When the upgrade process is finished, the Agent service restarts.
If you are upgrading from an older version, or if the Agent upgrade notification message does not appear automatically, then you must upgrade the Agent manually:
Download the most recent release of the software from the WAFS Support Center and save it to a convenient location on the Agent computer.
Stop the Agent service as follows:
Click Start > Run, type services.msc, then press ENTER. The Windows Services dialog box appears.
Click Availl Agent, then click the Stop Service icon.
Start the installer downloaded in step 1 above and then follow the instructions in the wizard.
On the Upgrade Agent page, click Upgrade Agent. Restart the Agent computer if prompted to do so.
The Agent service and the Agent should start automatically. If not, then restart the Agent service as follows:
Click Start > Run, type services.msc, then press ENTER. The Windows Services dialog box appears
Click Availl Agent, then click the Start Service icon.
Click the Windows system tray icon
, then click Agent Setup and Preferences.
On the General tab, confirm that the Run as NT Service check box is selected and then click OK.
Click the Windows system tray icon
, then click About Availl Agent and verify the version number to confirm that the upgrade has been successfully completed.
Repeat this procedure for each additional Agent.
